Meet Port Hueneme, California. It's a quiet little beach community located right next door to Malibu. Only 53 miles from the LAX Airport on one of the most beautiful coastal drives off Highway 1. As I was exploring this cute area of Ventura County I discovered that this Holiday Inn Express was only a block off the beach. There I met Patti Beck, the Sales Manager, who walked me through the property. She showed me the simple conference room that is available for wedding receptions. The space is big enough for 70 people, but I would suggest 50 or 60 for comfort. This is the exciting part...it's only $250 to rent ! and you can bring in your own food vendors at no extra cost! The rooms are newly renovated. They have a small, clean, and roomy pool area. This is the best part, not only do they include breakfast with your room but they have a wine and beer reception everyday from 5-7 also! The cocktail hour is served in a nicely decorated room looking onto the pool area.

Here's to our next chapter! After a girlfriend made me a where of a niche that had not been discovered in Ventura County and my love for hospitality, Beachside Memories was inspired. Beachside Memories provides services for Ventura County beach weddings and more. We are a mobile wedding venue and decor service. As a couple, you can choose the location that speaks to you, and we'll take care of all the details from there. We are the perfect fit for the couple who desires a unique and intimate wedding experience. We also offer an array of services and personalized attention.
As Ron and I were starting this adventure we took a walk along the beach one day. We watched as what turned out to be a florist standing in the sand holding several boxes. He had been waiting for the rental company to arrive. They brought the arch and the chairs after about 20 minutes. We continued to watch as they moved everything into place and the florist arranged the flowers to the arch. Then we watched as a man and woman arrived, they then had the men move the direction of the arch and chairs to accommodate the view. I decided to approach the couple, I asked if they were the wedding planners? They told me that he was the brother of the bride and she was their friend. That is exactly what we want to avoid! Taking your family and friends away from the days events to do the heavy work. We want to take the worry and concern away, that every detail will be to the couples wishes. We are a one-stop-shop, from set up to clean up, from flowers to refreshments, from elopements to vow renewals.... Here's to your next chapter! 30 YEARS AGO TODAY was our "unofficial" first date. I think we have different ideas of which was our "real" first date. I was working at a new restaurant in town and he was the designer. I had been laid up for a couple of weeks after having minor surgery on two of my toes, so my dear friend Liz and I planned on going to the movies. When Ron called to find out what was going on in Ventura I asked him if he wanted to come along with us. It might have been one of those awkward moments but I don't remember. We met at the theater and saw the Cotton Club, it was a great movie! After words he offered to buy us a drink. Since he was from Santa Barbara he let us choose. We picked to the Alamo, and said just one drink!. I was dressed in a short jean skirt and pink slippers, I couldn't wear shoes yet because of the surgery. When we think back about that night, we laugh about those slippers! They weren't cute slippers, they were like booties, pink, with flowers, and they had soft souls. I thought I looked cute! with my short skirt and a matching pink shirt. He watched us dance on the dance floor, two crazy girls who just wanna have fun! To think I was on a dance floor, with a bunch of drunks, with soft shoes and stitches in my toes? It never crossed my mind, we just laughed and had a great time. There are many of you starting at the beginning and some are starting your next chapter I would love to hear your stories. Fairy Tales always come with Happy Endings!
I wanted to share this video blog of Ventura because I thought it would be interesting
to see an outsiders point of view. They did offer some great insights of Ventura, but there is so much more! That is what I hope to share with you in my up coming posts, just how much natural beauty there is here. I truly love Ventura and I hope you will find it to be the perfect place for your beach wedding. Cheers to the New Year, it will be a special one! |
